Little 'O' Man

Born on August the 29th at 6:05 am, weiging in at a whopping 8 lbs and 5 ozs, Olin came to us by way of open adoption (www.adoptionhelp.org). We feel pretty lucky to have been selected as Olin's parents by a wonderful young couple from Georgia (thank you B & D).

Olin and Zizi Crash a Wedding

Our friends Chris and Lauren were married today. They held a lovely ceremony and reception at the Lark Creek Inn.

Olin, being only 1 month old, was a bit too young to leave with a sitter (besides, we haven't found one yet), so we took him with us. Eleanor brought Zizi as well. Both had a wonderful time providing hours of entertainment for the bridal party and guests. Of note: both Zizi and Olin were perfect guests - the grownups however...well that's another story (Mike ate the freeway plant). Ray brought his camera and documented the event.

The photo to the left is of Olin being cuddled in a new sling I made to go with my dress. For those interested, the pattern can be found online here.

Busy Weekend!
Olin was certainly the man about town this weekend. With travels to San Rafael and Palo Alto, it is a small wonder any napping got done (but thankfully, nap he did).

We ventured out on Saturday after seeing (Grandma) Sherry off. Daddy snuck in a bike ride up the mountain and then we packed the car for a visit to see Mike and Trish. Of note, car packing included the GREAT PUMPKIN from the garden. We spent a pleasant afternoon visiting with our friends. The boys worked on some shelving for the study (note: Olin napped while the power saw was running) and the ladies cooed at the baby and considered furniture (Trish the table is lovely). All in all a nice day.

On Sunday we dropped Daddy off near Crystal Springs Golf Club (just off the 280) so he could ride his bicycle to Palo Alto (again, sneaking in the miles). We then had a wonderful visit with Sabina, Joe & Everett.

After such a delightful and fun filled weekend, we are sad to note that there was a tragedy in our household Sunday evening. Many of you know that Olin is persnickety about his pacifier - preferring the Gumdrop (TM) to all other brands out there (we haven't yet found a local resource for the gumdrop so we are currently relying on web shopping to fill the requirement). I'm sad to announce that we lost a gumdrop (GASP). We are now down to only one *suitable* pacifier (GULP). Daddy rushed to his computer to place an order for reinforcements. We sure hope they arrive soon.

Grandma B Comes for a Visit

Ray's mom flew in on Tuesday (9/19) for a visit with her new grandbaby. Olin had a fun filled week of *wardrobe building,* strollering and smiling for Grandma. She even babysat one evening so we could go out for dinner (four golden pacifiers for Grandma). Loads of photos were taken but this one has to be our favorite.

Olin and Bongo were very sad to see Grandma go. There was much moping around the house after she left. Good thing we had plans that afternoon!

THE SLING

Help sometimes arrives from unexpected places. Our friends Jeremy and Eleanor have three beautiful children and are (quite frankly) model parents (El, you know you are so just accept the compliment). Upon hearing that I couldn't figure out how to make a sandwich (much less dinner) with a newborn on my hip, Eleanor came to the rescue with our sling shopping trip! Bonus: We got to see baby Zelda and her two shiny new teeth (GO ZIZI). This photo was taken while on the phone with mom telling her all about the sling. Olin just LOVES his new sling - we predict many more in our future (hey - gotta be fashionable).

Well, we arrived back in California safe and sound. Landed REALLY early in the morning on the 8th of September after a blissfully uneventful flight (excepting minor delays at Las Vegas airport). Olin has been adjusting very well to his new life here on the Left Coast. We've had 1 doctors visit (he gained 4 oz in 1 week!) and a few trips to the grocery store. Life is good!
